In May of 1996, Canada/Newfoundland & Labrador - Community Access Programs established a Community Access Centre providing Free Internet Access for the public as part of a Canada wide initiative to make Canada the most connected country in the world by March 30, 2001.

The North West River Community Access Centre (the Info-Centre) and Volunteer Library are situated in the Learning Centre of the College of the North Atlantic in the small community of just 492 people.

The Info-Centre, is equipped with four computers, a printer, an electronic scanner, and is staffed by volunteer members of the community.
