We hope everyone is staying healthy and safe as we move into Level 4 of COVID-19.
What does Level 4 mean?
Level 4 does not change Municipal operations. The office will remain open to the public by appointment only. We are working with Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador seeking further clarification of the role of Municipalities in reopening, and what it means for municipal operations. As of today, we are still under the following provincial directive:
"All municipal offices and public facilities should be closed to the public. Where and when possible, office staff should be working from home. If staff cannot work from home, advised social distancing guidelines and hygiene practices should be maintained in the office. Public works and outside staff should follow social distancing and hygiene practices and should work from home on an on-call basis, when possible."
Organized ball teams will not be permitted to start up. Our annual Beach Festival will not take place this year. We thank everyone for their support over the years. Stay safe, and next year we will plan for a great 35th year.
It is unknown at the time if spring cleanup will be on schedule, but we will keep you updated. We will maintain the current garbage schedule and trucks will continue be available for excess household garbage. We are in constant contact with our Municipal and Provincial partners, as well as industry, to ensure our concerns are answered, and information is provided to us as it becomes available.
Committees of Council have been continuing to meet remotely during this past 2 months. We will be having a Council Meeting on Thursday May 21st at 7:00 pm. This will be conducted by conference call. Any member of the public who may wish to listen to the proceedings, are asked to email or call the office for further direction on how they can remotely attend. There will be no guests or delegations attending this meeting, if anyone has a concern, please contact the office prior to the meeting so your concern can be addressed.

As of June 1st, no open fires or brush burning will be permitted. The brush pit is now open for brush and short wood only (no nails). Backyard closed pit and screened fires are permitted, unless otherwise determined as high risk by the Provincial Department of Forestry.
With summer coming our way (we hope), we want to remind everyone that NO motorized vehicles are permitted on the beach. ATV users, always maintain a low speed, do not use Town roads unless necessary, always wear a helmet, and follow the Provincial ATV Regulations. We will be mailing out those regulations in the coming weeks.
Finally, we would like to give special thanks to those residents who are using their creativity during this time, whether painting rocks, baking muffins, or leaving happy notes on the garbage bags it is all so much appreciated! Pictures will be posted on our website.
