News update November 10
Posted 10 November 2020, 3:15 pm NST
This is a quick news update, we hope everyone is doing well, as we start to close in on 2020. We have been busy working on next years budget and preparing Capital Works Project for upcoming year.
Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, there will be no ceremony in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, where many of us attend, instead we encourage residents to pay tribute from their homes, doorsteps, and driveways at 11:00 am to observe a moment of silence to honor those who have fallen, and those women and men who continue to serve our country today.
Garbage pick up for all of town will be Thursday. Make sure bags are at side of road by 8:00am. We know crows have figured out our schedule as well! We want to assure everyone that we are working hard to make garbage pickup safer for all. Within the next couple weeks, we hope to launch our new program. We thank everyone for their patience since March month.
The Cemetery committee would like to remind residents that before any burial or cremation can take place, they are to contact one of the committee members or the town manager, to pick up a copy of the cemetery policy and view the map to choose a plot. Plots can also be reserved by viewing the map at the town office or by contacting Wendy Mitchell. If you reserve a plot, make sure it is marked at the cemetery.
The Municipalities NL virtual conference was last week, much of the conference focused on a safe restart for communities. The town office will remain open by appointment only, please call in advance. The community center will remain closed for private functions but under specific guidelines, organizations can use the facility.
Stay safe and stay in tune with all provincial updates regarding Covid-19.
